I Feel The Need To Explain The Self-Professed Tech Guru Thing

I’ve heard a lot of “negative nellies” (I don’t think I’ve EVER used that term before! What is the internet doing to me??) on blog posts about the DO’s and DON’T’s that newbies and/or C-Listers should do… or rather not do, to be cool online. And yeah, quite a bit of it was entertaining and some of it was informative. The latter of which is something I continue to nearly beg for ‘because I’m afraid of doing something totally faux pas, but these same posts were also a bit … down putting? It’s awesome that I can’t explain what I

Blissdom Canada: Meet Lisa Leonard Designs / How To Shorten a Necklace Chain

I had a really great time at Blissdom Canada a couple weeks ago, and have been wanting to share the particulars with you guys for what seems like ages! I got to meet up with some incredible people, some of which I had only met once before at Shes Connected, and others I had met for the very first time. Whichever the case may have been, each and every new acquaintance I made is something I will cherish for a long time. So to give you guys the goods on what happened in Blissdom, I’ve decided to work through each

So, You Wanna Blo?

Alright fashionistas, executives, and SAHMs that need a little *ME* time, do I have a contest for you! They (those anonymous people on your tv) always say you should start every morning with a good breakfast to have a great day. Well, I'd like to make an addendum to that. Sure have a great breakfast! But also do what you can to have a great hair day too. There is nothing like fantastic hair to make the day go more smoothly, right? I've been lucky to join ranks with wonderful bloggers at both Shes Connected Conference and Blissdom Canada, and

The Words: "Win An Apple Ipad!!" Have Too Much Power

There are certain things that you will never forget. For me, a website breaking down because they've been advertising selling iPads for $10, “One day only, so don't miss out!” is something that I'm going to remember for a long time. Not because I really wanted an iPad then (I did, but it was more of the frugal person in me being able to save $500 on a tablet rather than really wanting the iPad for it's own merits,) but because of the brand hype this sale had generated. Twitter became an underground message board for mentioning this sale –

#SCCTO was a Blast! Did you think it'd be any different?

I'm thinking I'm going to have to do a series of posts on everything that went down for the Shes Connected Conference 2011. We were given a LOT of information to take in about blogging, social media and PR friendships, so I've tried processing it for the past week (while trying to get over the flu,) but everything I want to type out will definitely NOT fit all into one post. So… Here's Part I. Did I mention I was pretty sick DURING #SCCTO?? *pouts* I had the flu for a week before the conference, so I figured I'd be

Facebook Frictionless: A Perpetual Motion Machine

F8, the Facebook Developers Conference, is running on Live Stream as I type this, discussing the development of Open Graph applications. We heard from Mark Zuckerberg for about an hour, reaching an audience of nearly 130,000 developers, geeks, and journalists, discussing all the key topics, and throwing out some key phrases of what the new generation of Facebook will look like. Rolling out in the next couple of months is the new Timeline and Open Graph. Timeline: The Story of Your Life. All your stories, All your Apps, Express who you are. The new face of Facebook. Essentially, your profile

What Were You Doing at 8AM Last Saturday Morning?

Usually the answer to that question abovewould be: snoring, but this past Saturday had me awake by 6:30AM (I didn’t realise 6:30AM existed on Saturday mornings!!), so that I could be first in line at Addition Elle’s Launch Party for the new Michel Studio collection. I’ve been to a couple of parties hosted by Addition Elle in the past, so I was kinda surprised when I did actually manage to be first in line. All previous attempts usually left me at #24, which meant I had just missed out on a $25 gift card to go towards my purchase that

Welcome to the Michel Studio collection exclusive to Addition Elle

Welcome to the Michel Studio collection exclusive to Addition Elle and what I’ll most likely be wearing to the She’s Connected Conference! Tomorrow morning right at 8AM sharp, the doors of the Addition Elle store at Yonge and Temperance in downtown Toronto will be opening to let in some very enthusiastic plus-sized fashionistas. We’ll be treated to an early-bird breakfast, prizes, goodie bags and 20% off our entire purchase! Hello 20% Off. I heart you! A little bit of background as to why I’m SO EXCITED: If you’re plus sized, there are slim pickings for fashionable wear. And that pun

#SCCTO and What Am I Going to Wear??

So if you follow my twitter account, you KNOW that I’m going to #SCCTO. You’d know this, ’cause I talk about it often. What is #SCCTO though? It’s the twitter hashtag for “She’s Connected Conference in Toronto” that is run by ShesConnected.com, and sports a pretty tag line: “Connecting Influential Digital Women & Brands” Which pretty much sums up what will happen during this two day conference. The agenda looks amazing, including panels such as “What brands want from bloggers and digital women” and the “Ten Rules of the Road: putting it all together”. But what I really can’t wait

TIFF Event ~ Your Sister's Sister

Picture above Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt (respectively) © Copyrighted TIFF 2011. Last evening, I got the chance to watch a TIFF movie premiere, thanks to Women’s Post; it was actually the very first TIFF event I’ve ever attended (but definitely will not be the last!) I was a bit shocked at the line-up already in effect when we arrived 45 mins before the film was to start at Ryerson University Theatre – it actually wrapped around the corner, but despite the long line, we still wound up with pretty good seats. Your Sister’s Sister (YSS) was directed by Lynn

So Close!

Well, it’s been a couple of weeks since I first thought of building this platform, and it’s just about done! Can’t wait ’til I can stop coding, and just add blog post after blog post of all the cool things that can be done in Toronto (particularly downtown). #TIFF begun yesterday! (And inadvertently broke my online events calendar, but that’s a long nerd story about getting repeating days to work.) The Bay had a neat event to support the BCRF. I walked away with a bunch of awesome samples, a snack (the SMALLEST sandwich I ever had the pleasure of
