It’s not my very first WordPress plugin ever made (I’ve made four or five others over the past year,) but I’ve finally reached my goal for adding my first (and hopefully useful) plugin to WordPress.org’s repository, WOOT!
A fellow blogger was looking for a way to have Pinterest’s nopin=”nopin” code to work in her blog (to stop family photos from being pinned) and unfortunately WordPress does not recognize that particular code out of box. Everytime it was added to a blog post image, WordPress would delete it, thinking it was unnecessary junk code. I was asked to look into it, and happened to find a way to help by creating a plugin called Pinterest Repellent (I shouldn’t be left to name things, darn it!)
As far as plugins go, this one is extremely simple, but I was so happy to be able to contribute, even if it’ll only help one or two bloggers. 🙂
And while my other plugins were site-specific, this one could potentially help others in the WordPress community, so I applied to have it sit in the plugin database. So shiny….
So yeah, don’t mind me while I do a little dance for reaching this goal in my love and support for WordPress design, lol!
I’ve also heard recently that WordPress is turning 10 this month! WOW! Are you going to celebrate WordPress’ birthday on May 27th?

Congrats Aeryn! A great accomplishment! I've got it bookmarked :)
Thanks Sandy! :) Let me know if you have any Qs about it. :)
I will for sure, Aeryn :)
Congrats! I'm going to have to check this out... while I like that some images are pinnable, I don't want them all to be.
Yes exactly; up until this point it was have them all available for pinning or email pinterest to essentially block your site. Pinterest has code now available to either block your whole site yourself, or just choose some particular images that have no business being shared on their site, but we just need WordPress to also be on board with this new code change. :) Hope this plugin will help you in the future, and thanks! :D
Congratulations! Maybe one day I'll migrate over to the dark side :) It's ironic that on the day you put up this post, I write a post about how to back up a Blogger Blog :)
Will you hold my hand if I decide to do it one day?
LOL absolutely; I need to put hand-holding on my LinkedIn resume, am becoming a pro at it!! ;) We'll get you on the dark side eventually! :D
oh my goodness that is such a great idea, I never thought of having that before, but for personal photos it's so great!
Right? Until the blogger mentioned, "it's for family photos" I couldn't think of why anyone would want to use nopin in their images either!
Congratulations Aeryn, that is such an amazing plugin to have, I would never have even thought that someone would hijack family photos, but in this day you cannot be too safe. {PS, I will vouch for your awesome hand-holding!!}
Yeah, its hard to fathom, but I do know a couple bloggers struggling with other sites using their family photos for biz. :/ I'm really happy that pinterest came up with nopin.
Wow! I am super impressed, as it all seems like gibberish to me. Congratulations!
Awh, thanks! :) I've occasionally wished I could call myself bilingual for knowing HTML/PHP, lol!! ;)
That's awesome of you to create that "nopin" plug in! I'm currently on Blogger and thinking of making the switch over to WordPress one day. Great to know there are all kinds of cool plug ins available for WP!
There is a bucket load of awesome plugins to take your site to the next level. If it weren't for plugins, I wouldn't have ever bothered with Wordpress, lol.
That's so AMAZING!! Congrats. Now I know where to go with my WP woes.
Lol, yep! If you've got any Qs I may be able to help! :)
Yay! What an amazing accomplishment! As you know I am html illiterate so creating something like that is unfathomable to me. So lucky we have WP gurus like you to turn to!
Congratulations! You're so talented, and this sounds like a really awesome little plugin.
