    The movie is set during the modern era, with modern tech, so the guy has to be nuts right? He couldn’t possibly be telling the truth. What’s the con? What meds should he be on?

    Watch how eccentric supermarket clerk Kenneth teaches three disillusioned journalists how to believe again, as they “train” to become time travellers.

    Intrigue, adventure, romance, and the wild beauty of amalgamating all alien species and cultures. While the overall plot was thin, the romance was fun, and the marriage of science-fiction and fantasy is awe-worthy.

  • The Princess Bride

    The Princess Bride is THE love story, and should be revered as such whenever possible. It has action, drama, and The Giant.

    Possibly consider preparing an epic (though responsible) drinking game with your date, because what else are you going to do with all the “Inconceivable!”s and “As you wish”es.

    This movie is also a tear jerker for me when Mandy Patikin repeatedly says, “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”  It turns out that Patikin’s father had died from pancreatic cancer in 1972, and was very much in Patikin’s mind during the fight scene with the man in black. We might be seeing the six-fingered, man in black about to die, but what Patikin was seeing was the cancer that killed his father.

    Pass the tissue!

    “From the creators of the Matrix trilogy.” UGH! This movie had so much potential, it almost physically hurts how bad they messed up here. Chances are that this movie will still become a cult classic, because it is so very bad, in such a so very good way.

    I keep saying that if they had spread this movie into it’s own trilogy (one movie per sibling,) it would have been gladly received with open arms. As it is, we’re left wondering which fanfic story this story was based on, ’cause OMG it hit nearly every cliched bad-fic genre out there.

    A lycan. With wings.

    Jupiter Ascending will mess you up.

    That’s two counts of a hot-mess knocked out of the park right away. Add a weirdly named know it all, who is “unintentionally” the center of attention heroine into the mix, and I’m left feeling blessed that none of your little ponies were involved in the making of this film.

Movie Date Tips For the Best Night at Home

Here are some items to think about before your Valentine’s date arrives.

  1. Have Your Movies Queued or Stacked and Ready to Go
    Have a bunch of movies selected ahead of time that works with both of your tastes in mind.Are you both science fiction geeks? You may both be in the mood to watch Stargate, or Star Wars, or Star Trek. If she’s more into fantasy and he’s more into bad movies, you both will probably get a kick out of Jupiter Ascending, or Weird Science.

    Bottom line, have good options at hand for both of you, so that your night isn’t wasted over a conversation like this…

  2. Don’t Forget the Valentine Bouquet
    Treat the keeper of your heart with a beautiful bouquet.Here are some truths you need to know about flowers. Unless allergies are involved, everyone loves them.

    And if you need a bit of psychology, whenever given as a gift, the receiver associates the scent of those flowers to the moment they were received. Leaving sense-memory gift for your loved one’s olfactory will practically guarantee that they’ll continue to cherish your night together for days to come.

  3. To snack? Or not to snack?
    No need to go overboard in the food department, unless that’s your normal. If it’s dinner and a movie night, chances are you won’t want much more food outside of dinner anyway. Otherwise, make sure you have popcorn to pop, or chip bags at the ready, and whichever kind of bubbly (wine, soda, gum) you and your date enjoy.nom nom nom
  4. Make a Cozy Home Theatre
    Depending on how your TV is situated, you may be inclined to move furniture around for the night. If you have an LED widescreen, get the big-screen ambience really happening by moving your couch as close to the TV as you can. Jay and I watched Star Trek (2009) once this way, and it was pretty neat. Also, bring out all the blankets and pillows for the coziest nest for movie watching.
  5. Put Your Phone Down
    Unless you’re using your smartphone to webcast movies from Google Play to your TV, leave your phone somewhere out of sight, so that you won’t be itching to pick it up. This is time you’ve promised to spend with your date, so don’t give the impression that you rather hang out with your 10 thousand besties on Twitter instead.put your smartphone away
