Have you seen the trailer yet for Walt Disney Studio’s Into the Woods movie musical? With an incredible cast, including Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt and Chris Pine, how can it not be full on awesome?? This movie is based on the old adage, “be careful for what you wish for,” and weaves four of the Brothers Grimm more popular fairy tales for one exciting trip across wishful thinking.
This movie is based on Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s Into the Woods musical that had first debuted in San Diego, back in 1986 and has had an incredible run and a multitude of successful revivals ever since. (In fact, the more adult play can be seen around the globe today, and continues to thrive into next year.)
The Disney adaptation is meant to be kid-friendly, and am curious to see how it differs from what I’ve read of the original play…
Make a wish….

I actually acted (I say acted, I was in the chorus) of a production of Into the Woods in Grade 6. Best year of my life.
Did that come off sad? Regardless, Giants in the Sky is my favourite song of ALL TIME.
The trailer looked so good! So many stars in one movie. I’ve always loved Jack & the Beanstalk, intrigued at the idea of climbing to the sky.

The trailer looks great!
I was a little disappointed after listening to the soundtrack. The trailer did really well in picking I Wish as the theme song, but my hopes are not too high with the other ones. Maybe actually watching it will make me feel different as in the case with Les Mis!
Can’t wait for this movie! Filled with great and fun actors and Meryl Streep will blow us all away for sure. And Disney just makes it the icing on the cake 🙂
I love Meryl Streep. I also quite like red riding hood. I had never heard about the musical but the trailer looks enticing.

I’m a HUGE fan of the original musical (though I’ve only seen the original production on tape. I HAVE seen the revival, which I adored, and am anxiously awaiting the film adaptation. It looks like Rob Marshall got this right – and the cast? Phenomenal.

I love Anna Kendrick playing Cinderella in the movie.
One of the best musicals ever. Sondheim’s involvement will hopeful ensure this film adaptation is not overly Disneyfied.
Love Cinderella and can’t wait to see this!
Three little pigs
I’m really looking forward to this movie, but my favourite would be Hansel and Gretel. I think it would be really cool if there was an updated version of this story, perhaps casting some elements from other witch stories especially Baba Yaga.
I want to see this movie so bad after seeing the movie clip.
