I am SO happy that the beauty world is going “nude” in the best way they know how: by faking it! And as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®, I’ve accepted a challenge to go nude myself, and I like it!
Okay, well luckily not that kind of nude, you know?
This kind…
Models and movie stars alike are sticking with “less is more” this season, which is an exciting concept. Finally, young women are being encouraged to highlight their best features instead of the extreme colour of the month. Just this past winter, women were encouraged to even put bling on their lips! Gah! That was one trend that I avoided, and you’re all welcome for that!
So, its like we’ve now got this resting period from extreme trends. Throw on some sort of concealer if you have to, something to hide your shine, a bit of lip-gloss or a muted colour lipstick, and you’re good to go! Cool eh?
I swear this is the one and only time you’ll ever see a pic of me sans my favourite pressed powder and at least a little lip gloss.
Unfortunately, not even those models and actresses above, looking beautifully natural, got up out of bed and ready to go. And yep, as you can see, it doesn’t work like that for me either. *pout*
I will admit, I’ve always liked the concept of wearing makeup without it actually looking all that noticeable (to conceal and look refreshed instead of the oil slick you see above, yuck,) and after picking out some items from Rimmel London at my local Wal-Mart, I do like the results I wound up with!
And this is the outdoor look…
So what did I use? In about 4 minutes roughly… okay, I didn’t exactly use a timer to figure this out, but I just might try that next time lol… I put on Rimmel’s:
- Fix & Perfect Primer,
- Stay Matte pressed powder,
- Match Perfection Blush,
- Glam Eye’s Quad eyeshadow,
- Scandaleyes mascara,
- and Vintage Pink lipstick.
I decided to pick up two different lipsticks to illustrate what would go great for a nude look, as the best place to make this nude look really your own would be through your lips! Best types of lipstick colours to choose from are in either peach/coral, purple or brown.
Oh, and I did do my nails the night before as well! (from instagram)

I’m really happy with the items I picked out. The Lasting Finish foundation in the image above is actually my sister’s, lol. When she heard I was doing a sponsored post for Rimmel, she was all “OMG! I need a new foundation, this is perfect!” So um yeah, she wound up restocking on her favourite foundation, heh. My favourite items out of the bunch have to be:
- Scandaleyes mascara – I haven’t ever had a mascara that applied so well, didn’t smudge right away and didn’t do that clumpy thing that drives me nuts so much. In fact, this mascara has changed my mind on whether or not to wear it on a daily basis. Up until this point, I rarely wore any ’cause I couldn’t stand the way it’d make my eyes look like I grew only three really thick eyelashes, but this Scandaleyes label really does what the label says. The only thing I wish was available is a brown coloured mascara; my choices were black and extreme black.
- 60 Seconds Nail Polish – this has got to be on my top five list of best nail polishes available ever. Only a couple swipes of easily applied paint on each nail and your fingers are looking flawless. And it truly stands up to the 60 second label. Again, I didn’t trying timing myself, but I had perfectly polished nails that were ready to go in under five minutes. It was so simple that I actually did my toe-nails as well… which up to this point is something I left to the guy or gal doing my pedicure, lol.
- Moisture Renew Lipstick in Vintage Pink – this colour was great for lasting as long as I needed it to; no smudging, and felt good to put on even without any priming before hand, (which is something I look for in lipstick. Nothing drives me nuts more than lipstick that dries out my lips instantly!)
If you need inspiration on how to apply eyeshadow for a nude look, do a search in Pinterest. I honestly do not know how I survived tying my shoes, or putting on pants before Pinterest taught me how to do it! There are some great examples of how to apply eyeshadow so that it doesn’t just look like a layered cake on your lids, lol.
Want to check out the behind-the-scenes of my Rimmel London make-up shop at Walmart? Some cool things happened that day! 🙂
So, what are your favourite tips for going nude this summer?

Ok I’m convinced. I NEED some of that Rimmel makeup and I NEED to try out that nude look. Love the way it turned out.
Oh I love these! I love the eye makeup in one specific Pin on your first photo, I’m about to go hunt down that pinterest board! I also love how this looks on you! Amazing! And that nail colour suits you, but I believe that it’s almost the colour of my skin so may look REALLY weird….that being said, I know there’s a nude out there for everyone…so I’m off to search for my nude colours now….see ya! <3
I love this post. I have always been into nude coloured makeup but never really tried much except for nail polish. I will definitely have to try out some of these Rimmel products soon.Fix & Perfect Primer is at the top of my list
Looking HOT!!! Love that outdoor photo. I also like makeup that does not really look like makeup!
Laughing my butt off. I don’t know how I survived tying my shoes or parenting before Pinterest. My kid says this weekend _ Oh I have a social studies or science project in which I need to make an airplane that works. (First of all I am like way to leave it last minute, A + in procrastination and second I am like okey dokey time for Pinterest. They will help us!! ) I love your pictures. You are brave to show No makeup and what a difference. I can hardly believe that nude without makeup and nude with makeup makes skin look so much more camera ready. You looked great before in the regular nude shot but adding the nude makeup makes a huge difference. I actually buy a fair bit of Rimmel product because it is an excellent price. I will try to nude nail polish. It’s quite attractive.
Beautiful girl friend! And you do look beautiful oh natural! I love this new trend as I usually go very natural when I wear make up (very RARE) otherwise I look like a little kid who broke into their mother’s make up or a CLOWN!
I really like the nude look, and bought some light tone makeup this summer. I will try it out this weekend. Thanks for sharing your ideas. My tip: do a makeup that is natural- not too much of it.
The nude look is great. I’ve always liked the more natural colors. I understand what you mean about Pinterest, I use it for every kind of information too.
I love the nude look. Fresh and natural but covers the blotches etc lol!
I like the more natural look of nude colours
