Welcome to the TENTH edition of #NewComicBookDay on Geek with Style! I don’t think I’ve written a blog series so religiously before, go me. DC has a multitude of annual comics published this week (slow month for other series maybe?) I’ve only collected a small handful of annuals from Marvel and DC, but I’ll admit that of the five released for April 1st, three of them sound interesting to read. What is an annual? Good question…
In the most basic terms, an annual is a comic that has a somewhat bigger page count. DC’s current comics have 32 pages on average, and their annuals have 48, which makes them a third larger than an average comic. They could be stand-alone stories, or continuations of an ongoing plot (dealer’s choice really.) The biggest (and perhaps only,) selling point is that they’re longer comics to enjoy. The title would suggest that they happen only once a year… I don’t know enough yet to find out whether that’s still the case.
Anything that has to do with Ultron is an easy must-buy for me. When we first heard that the second Avengers movie was going to be titled “Age of Ultron”, I had somehow found out that there was a comic series by that same name. Turns out, Ultron is one awesome bad-guy (*cough* that Hank Pym built! *cough*)

Well… it sounds like its gonna be the best story ever, so why not?
It’s not every day Peter Quill ends up in jai…wait…never mind this happens a lot. But he DOESN’T always get Rocket stuck there with him. And he DEFINITELY doesn’t always regale the guards with the BEST STORY EVER! Let’s just hope he keeps their attention long enough for the other Guardians to bust him out…
This is quite the twist of a time traveling story (and the second time-based avengers comic this week!) The bad-guys have a time-machine, but don’t use it, ’cause they have nothing to change? How awesome is that??
At a secret Hydra installation hidden away in rural Japan, the Avengers discover a time-portal that sends them on an adventure that spans millennia. But what kind of bad guys have a time machine they don’t use to change the past? Bad guys who know they win… The only thing standing between our immutable past and our wasted, ruined future are the Avengers, finally reunited to battle a doomsday weapon thousands of years in the hatching.
As all stories Deadpool, I’m loving this one to bits. The fourth-wall breaking dude is just so funny, yo.
A planet overrun by Deadpools what could the danger be? Tummy sore from laughing? Overdose of awesomesauce? Could it be you can have too much of a good thing???

I haven’t really read this series, like, at all. I’m just barely over the idea that Marvel killed off THE Wolverine, like, barely. I’m curious as to the “very special guest” bit, and also, Deadpool with claws on the cover means I just have to buy it.

The Punisher vs Captain America… I was kinda hoping that the Punisher was pursuing the good captain for some abhorent reason, but instead its a “Punisher has gone too far,” gig. Still want to read it, heh.

Pretty sure it’s only one month away, unless the release of the Secret Wars has been pushed back? *shrugs*
Not the biggest fan of Damien Wayne, but that’s mostly ’cause I haven’t enjoyed this character in any of the animation movies. Maybe its different in the comics, and this seems like the annual to find out.
Ya know… I really only enjoy reading Superman, when his storyline involves Batman. Probably because Batman is usually taking Superman down a peg or two.
Unlike Superman, Superboy actually has an interesting background/story, and its been forever since I’ve read anything Teen Titans. So apparently, this is becoming the week of, “Meh, why not?”

I feel about Superman as you do; that giant boyscout is best used as a foil for the slightly more pragmatic Batman. I love watching them interact, and I often laugh at the results. I should check out that annual.
