Brrrr! It’s quite nippy outside, isn’t it? Ever wondered what that cold bite in the air can do to your skin? It’s perhaps one of the reasons why I’m not the biggest fan of winter, despite the dazzling diamond snow beneath my fabulously warm-booted feet, or getting the adrenalin pumping by flying down a hill in a rubber tube. It’s the extra care to ensure that not only is my skin protected from UV rays (‘cause you need that sort of protection all year long, regardless of cloud cover,) but to also keep my skin from getting that tight feeling and looking like winter froze all over my face with that cold, super-dry air. If I’m not careful enough, the winter season can equal wrinkly dry-skin, and that’s not even remotely fun. Like, at all.

I love trying out new products that are meant to help improve my skin. I have a really annoying skin type, which is essentially, everything yucky all rolled into one face. Mine. Gah. Oily skin? Sure. Dry skin? Yep, I like to keep things interesting with a combo. Blemishes? You betcha. Puffiness? On days that end at midnight, you can guarantee some puff under my eyes. I go through a lot of trial and error to find the right creams that’ll work to make my skin feel fresh, but I don’t stick with any favourites year after year… at least not yet. I haven’t found anything that I’d consider a miracle system that I couldn’t do with another cream.

That’s why I can’t wait to head to Shoppers Drug Mart to try out these:

BIOTHERM AQUASOURCE cocoon

Biotherm Aquasource Cocoon #SDMWinterSkin

This gel-balm sounds delicious, and I do enjoy the brand. It was designed with seasonal dryness in mind, so am betting this one is quite soothing when applied.

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum #SDMWinterSkin

This little baby is supposed to do a number of repairs that I’d love to get in on today, including:

  • Diminishing lines and wrinkles
  • Firming and lifting skin
  • Reducing dark spots and evening skin tone
  • Improving radiance and texture
  • All of that, yes please!

Using these two seemingly fab products together, I’m hoping to have kick-butt skin during the next few wintery months. I love how Shoppers Drug Mart has such a wide selection of skin care products for every skin-type, and the fact that I can earn the much loved Shoppers Optimum Points, it’s almost becoming a traditional shop each winter.

Have you tried either of these skin products? I’d love to know your experience!

Another reason why I’m heading to Shoppers Drug Mart this time around is to check out their sleek, new Skin Analysis beautyRx Tool. It’s this in-store complimentary skin care consultation, conducted by the Beauty Experts at Shoppers Drug Mart that consists of:

  • A Moisture Checker- measures you skins hydration levels; and
  • Video Microscope- magnifies your skin’s surface by 30 times to help diagnose your skin type!

Depending on the results, the Beauty Expert will find the right skin care products to suit your needs. That’s just awesome, am I right? It’s also easier on your wallet if you’re afraid that the product you want to try doesn’t do exactly what you hoped for your skin. So go check out Shoppers Drug Mart in-store to check out their massive selection of skin care products, try out their complimentary beautyRx Tool (you could *lose* money if you don’t try it, and purchase a product that’s not right for you) and don’t forget those Shoppers Optimum Points while they’re hot!

See you at Shoppers Drug Mart! 🙂
