Review | Geek Life: Augmenting Reality

In my last post, there are maybe a hundred comments from Geek with Style's awesome community of peeps wanting droids to help cook and clean their homes. You guys... you might not realize just how close we are to that very thing! Brandon F says, "I would love to have a droid like c3po to be my butler and do all my chores" Ginette4 thinks, "Wouldn’t [it] be great if they made a droid that would clean the house..do laundry and cook meals ?" And Shirley S totally agrees, "I would love to have a droid that could cook and clean." Well guys, meet my new little buddy "DE-360", or better known as, the Dyson 360 eye robot vacuum. #DysonRobot Repeat after me, "Robot. Vacuum." DE-360, the droid you've totally been looking for! EEK! Isn't he cute?! Out of the box, this little guy is supposed to be able to clean my floors with an uncanny intuition. With his literal 360 eye, he knows where he is, what he's doing (CLEANING MY FLOORS SO I DON'T HAVE TO), and when he needs a battery-charging break. He does it all on his own. I don't need to check his battery, because he's on top of that. I might have to mod him up so that he randomly responds with Beeps and Boops throughout the day. If you ever wanted to know what R2D2's great-grandfather looked like, here he is! Can you see the family resemblance?? This little buddy is staring right at you.... You're totally expecting him to speak right now, aren't you? Beep beep boop trill. I don't know for sure, as I've never had a tour of the Dyson plant, but I would bet a taco supreme that Dyson's R&D team is filled with Star Wars geeks. From the same company that built red and blue lightsabers for cordless stick vacuums, is it any wonder that Dyson recently upgraded to actual AI-based Droids? I'm in love. Have to tell ya. It was a super quick unboxing. Very little refuse which I'm so grateful for. I hate unnecessary bits that make our landfills taller. All that is missing from this photo is the black padding, and foam wrapping that held the vacuum in place in the middle of this box. What you'll find inside: The Dyson 360 Eye box comes with the vacuum, a charging stand, charge cord, and instructions. You're gonna need these instructions, so don't be quick to throw them away! Unboxing: A Closer Look to Dyson's 360 Eye Here are some of my immediate impressions, from the moment I brought Dyson's 360 eye out of its box. This vacuum drone is ready for war! From the carbon fibre bristles to capture the tiniest of dust with its full-sized brush bar, to the patented cyclonic suction action you've come to expect from Dyson, this robot is sure to be a mighty warrior against dirt! Of course droids first started with tank tracks for optimal movement. Duh. We need to start somewhere before adopting BB-8's rolling ball methods, right? Absolutely love that these durable tracks will get my buddy moving and cleaning over uneven surfaces, like that tiny toe-tripping transition strip of a hill between our tiled kitchen and wood-finished dining room. I might fly over that transition bit more often than I care to admit, but I'm eager to see Dyson's 360 Eye go over it seamlessly. It can charge its battery just fine, but diapers are another thing. Yes, droids have diapers, didn't you know? Droids prefer to call them filters , and luckily this filter is super easy to get to for a quick change when needed. My Dyson 360 Eye vacuum droid with a smart AI is shiny. So, what do you think of this awesomely smart little vacuum so far??
