PS4 | Geek Life: Augmenting Reality

Yep, it's true. I bought a PS4 game through pre-order, without actually having a PS4 console at home to play it. Why? That's an entirely great question. This game had a preview at the FAN Expo in Toronto back in August 2014, and it was love at first sight. It's violent, and I'm not usually a big fan of violence, unless its Supernatural (it drives Jay, aka TheHubs, nuts that I refuse to watch anything remotely in the horror genre, but will happily gorge on Supernatural episodes all night long.) The plot though is awesome, and the graphics are so epically gorgeous, I'm making myself ignore the whole horror/violent bit of the game. There is a very good reason why its rated M/Mature 17+. But now? Now I have to choose which family member is going to host my marathon sleepover where I take over their entertainment system for the next few nights. That, or figuring out a way to convince both Jay and myself that we totally do need a new gaming console. We currently have a Wii (first gen,) and an Xbox 360 at our disposal. The Wii... just might be on its last legs. Not sure if its 4 yo KitKat related (he loves to handle discs by its shiny back and gets the best finger smudges I've ever seen onto the games he wants to play,) but the console tends to freeze at the most inopportune moments. The Xbox 360, on the other hand, works perfectly fine, and even gives us access to Shomi to watch TV on our big screen. So do I need another console? Yes, yes I do if I want to play The Order: 1886 in the comfort of my own home. But, do I need another console? Other than the fact that The Order is exclusive to PlayStation, I haven't found a reason why getting a PS4 would improve our quality of life at home. Sure, the graphics on a PS4 are absolutely drool worthy. If you're serious about picture quality, you want to have a PS4 in your life. It doesn't have features though that I can't get from other systems I currently have at home, which is a total shame 'cause I'm looking for the faintest of reasons to include this system into our home entertainment. Between streaming Netflix on our Wii, and watching movies and TV both through our Microsoft account and Shomi on the 360, our entertainment is pretty much set. What am I missing though? What can I take to Jay and say, "See?! We need to bring home a PS4 like yesterday!" Maybe if I start collecting enough exclusive to PlayStation games, I'll convince myself on budgeting a [easyazon_link asin="B00OP4QQOQ" locale="CA" new_window="yes" nofollow="default" tag="geewitsty-20"]$500 spend for a new entertainment box[/easyazon_link]. In the meantime, I can't wait to delve into war-torn Victorian Era London, become acquainted with sci-fi inspired weapons and fight against werewolf beasties. I'll just have to be nice and share the one-player game with whoever is "lucky" enough to host my upcoming marathon.
