Game of Thrones Season 7 Holiday Gift Guide

Aeryn Lynne

It might be apropos for Torontonians that Game of Thrones Season 7 released on the same day that we truly felt the biting touch of winter for the first time this holiday season.

Winter Is Coming / Winter is HERE, OMG!

So imagine my surprise earlier this week when I come home to a massive box from HBO…

I had no clue what was inside. I could guess, ’cause I knew that GoT was releasing soon, but honestly, the front of the shipping box said it weighed 15 lbs, and I don’t know of a DVD box (or box-set) that weighs that much!

The words I uttered when I pried the shipping tape away and saw this wooden box below can only be described as “OMG, whut the &@*#, omGGGG how cooooollll!”

A Game of Thrones Season 7 Survival Kit!

HBO Game of Thrones Season 7 Survival Kit

If you’re not sure what the geek in your life has/doesn’t (we’re frequent collectors, and totes know how difficult we can make gifting things for our loved ones,) you have a really good chance that they don’t have Game of Thrones Season 7 in their Blu-Ray/DVD collection yet.

It released only yesterday, during a time that has many geeks suffering through exams, or newly winter weather traffic.  So the odds are in your favour here.

HBO Game of Thrones Season 7 Blu-Ray Digital Release December 12 2017

If your geek is… mature, head to your local wine store (such as the LCBO for us Ontarians,) and pick up a nice limited bottle of Game of Thrones Chardonnay by Seven Kingdoms Wines in California.

(WHUT. I had no idea this existed!)

Winter looms, but fair weather and a long summer have yielded a fine and elegant chardonnay. Aromas of tree fruit and fragrant blossom lead to a rich palate, with notes of lemon and honey and racy acidity that would complement the finest cuisine of the realm. Brilliant with poultry, chestnut soup or almond-crusted trout.  ~  LCBO

HBO Game of Thrones Season 7 The Oath of the Binge Watchers

The Oath of the Binge Watchers

Don’t ask Jay how high-pitched my squee was when I saw that the underside lid of this epic Game of Thrones survival kit box was stenciled with the Oath of the Binge Watchers, as if this box couldn’t be more awesome.

The image might be a bit small, so here’s what the oath says:

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until the last episode of the 7th Season. I shall embark on this journey with either my king, my Khaleesi, or my hand, and we shall rule the iron throne that is our couch.

I shall don this faux-fur lined cloak and share it in all its glory. I shall live and die a fan at my post. I am the remote in the darkness. I am the watcher on the couch. I am the warner of spoilers that guards the realm of men. I pledge my honour to the Game of Thrones for this night and all nights to come.

.

.

.

.

EPIC.

And that faux-fur lined cloak (aka knock-off GoT snuggie, YASSS) is exactly what I need in my life right now. So glad there are two, because it will be hard for me to share the glory of this box with Jay otherwise.

It comes with a pocket for your remote control! 😍😍😍

Gift Game of Thrones Season 7 to Your Geek

Question: You may be thinking to yourself, well my geek already watched Game of Thrones on TV, why in the heck would they want a DVD of a show they’ve already seen?

Answer: Special Features.

Geeks LOVE Special Features. It shows us how our favourite stories were made, and a closer look at the bigger picture that creates the shows we love so much. Sometimes what would be potentially our favourite moments of a show are cut away due to time constraints or other issues, and it’s nice to see the “what could have beens” from the eyes of those creating these works of art.

Blu-ray & DVD Exclusive Bonus Features Include:

  • From Imagination to Reality: Inside the Art Department- Extensive two-part featurette detailing the astonishing work of Production Designer Deborah Riley and her Art Department, dissecting the process behind the creation of this season’s incredible new sets, including Dragonstone, Casterly Rock, Highgarden, the Dragonpit, and more.
  • Fire & Steel: Creating the Invasion of Westeros – Revisit this season’s most pivotal moments with this behind-the-scenes featurette, including interviews with key cast and crew breaking down how fans’ favorite moments were created.
  • Audio Commentaries: Commentaries on every episode with cast and crew including David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Jacob Anderson, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, and more.
  • Histories and Lore: 7 new animated pieces that give the history and background of notable season 7 locations and storylines including The Dragonpit, Highgarden, Prophecies of the Known World, the Rains of Castamere and more all narrated by cast members including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aidan Gillen, Iain Glen and more.
  • In-Episode Guides: In-feature resource that provides background information about on-screen characters and locations.
  • Digital Download Exclusive Bonus Features: Creating the North and Beyond, a Behind-the-scenes featurette delving into the massive undertaking of creating and filming the battle in Episode 6 of Season 7.

YES! ME!! I am the Game of Thrones geek. LOVE GOT. But I am so far behind. I would have actually lost my mind this arrived here. FAN girl. I am still finishing Season 2. The issue is I rarely have time to watch TV and I can’t watch it when kids are underfoot – even a high schooler because HELLA inappropriate. LOL.

RIGHT? “Lost my mind” is a great way to describe the brainplosion that happened when I opened the shipping box, lol.

And, bwahaha! YES, I’ll admit I watch GoT in my bedroom where I know the little ones aren’t gonna barge in at the worst moments, ’cause they’re asleep (and better stay that way, darn it!)

I’ll admit I am only just starting to hop on the GoT train but my husband has been watching for years. He would totally geek out over all of this!

Nice! My husband is a GoT fan and we only have up to season 5 so there are now 2 seasons that would make great holiday gifts this year. Thanks for letting me know it’s out!
